Musharraf offers support to govt to overcome terrorism, economic slide
7/24/2008 8:45:00 PM

Islamabad, July 24 (ANI): Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf today said that he would support the government in its efforts to overcome the twin problems of terrorism and the economic downturn.

Musharraf said this during a meeting with Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan and Chaudhry brothers at the Presidential Camp Office here.

He also said that a clash between institutions would seriously damage the country at this time.

The President said he has an important role to play in the present set up and that he will continue to do his best in this regard.

The Geo News reported that once again there is a noticeable rise in the frequency of Musharraf's contacts with the like-minded politicians.

He met with Sindh Governor, Dr.Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, President Pakistan Muslim League-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi here at the Presidential Camp Office and discussed the present state of the affairs in the country.

This is not a time for confrontation because the country is presently facing a number of challenges including inflation, energy crisis and terrorism; the sources quoted him as saying.

He called on the government to take immediate steps to control price hike.

The President lauded the positive role of the opposition.

He said National Reconciliation is necessary in order for the country to successfully meet the challenges it faces. (ANI)
